I'm not a writer and it's been a while since I have written, so I apologize if everything reads a little fragmented.

Occupation: College student by day, bartender by night. Rei is currently in school for business management while working to pay for rent and saving up the excess to open up her own bar. Since working at one, she's found that under a drunken stupor her human customers have opened up and provided her with the interaction she so desperately clings to. Besides, if everything already tastes like trash to ghouls, why not consume real garbage? Rei can only ever stomach coffee flavored liqueur though, which is why her frequent customers like calling her "the bitter beauty". 


Personality:

Her entire being is driven by her desire to fill the void that is her heart. 

    She constantly finds herself overwhelmed with a desire to love and be loved, but finds that most of her relationships end at dinner time. Rei is not interested in ghoul partners, simply because she cannot experience the struggle with which her twisted heart desires when it fights between hunger, lust and love. 

    Her contempt for certain human liveliness is hidden day-by-day under a guise of frivolity and flirtatious small talk. She is actually rather soft spoken and attempts to maintain a plain jane persona while at school, and only allows herself to really smile at work. But when she goes out to hunt, she openly displays her envy for those who can easily find love and build trust without the same worries as herself. She particularly enjoys gorging on women who reflect the same envious nature, insisting that she can carry on their ugliness inside of her. Being as inconsistent as she is, Rei could classify as a binge eater in that she has dry spells during the time she dates, and consumes multiple prey when she reaches her breaking point. 

    Rei fancies herself a heroine in a tragedy and enjoys literature like "Wuthering Heights" and "The Phantom of the Opera", identifying with passionate characters like Heathcliff and the Phantom.

History:
    After birth in the outskirts of the 11th ward, Rei was named and raised by her mother for the first 48 hours of her life. The rest of her childhood was spent in a church raised by a human Father, who kept her until she was capable of looking out for herself. Unlike most humans, his occupation and teachings gave him an open heart, but his mind was still wary of her dark nature. In turn, "Father" was always very kind but cautious, constantly telling Rei that she was not born sinful by nature, but will always carry the burden of sin with every breath she took. During her time with him, she was able to restrain her destructive tendencies by eating the carcasses of humans who were too poor to afford a proper burial in the cemetery behind the church. 

    From then, being raised by Father, Rei quickly learned to live among humans rather peacefully and was always on the lookout around parks and under bridges for an easy, albeit less than fresh, meal. She always felt guilty for her existence though, and constantly looked forward and beyond to seek solace in any place she could find. It wasn't until she was fourteen that she finally moved into the 14th ward to attend a better school nearby in the 20th ward and took on Father's last name. It was also around this time that she experienced her first love. Takeshi was a simple human, with eyes as warm as the sun, and with every smile he gave her, there was also that acceptance she yearned for. Taken over by the immense emotions she was experiencing for the first time, Rei found herself wanting more of her fragile human lover. More of his laughter, his words, the warmth of his hand, more and more and more- she wanted so desperately to cherish all of him; the source of light in her life. In the end- her desperation for love and poor Takeshi's inability to provide it, lead to a befuddled Rei drenched in blood, completely immersed in his innards when all she wanted was to have his heart. Between the traumatizing loss of her first love and the excitement that her first kill brought, she instantly became addicted to the sensation and taste of living prey. As of since, Rei prefers hunting over scavenging.

    It was also from that point on that Rei became obsessed with finding "the one" who would eventually console the "nothingness" in her heart, rather than her stomach.

Additional:

• Mask: Rei dons a bright red Hannya mask that reflects her envious female nature. It is also decorated with teardrops on the left side to show that her envy and desires only lead her to tragedy. She personally likes her mask for it's beastly appearance, stating it truly shows the person inside her heart. 
• Clothing: Rei wears a long sleeved, skin tight black dress with matching thigh highs and a pair of suede tan boots. Her accessories include multiple black stud earrings, a bolo tie with a cross motif brooch (from Father), a silver ring on her right thumb and a choker necklace. When hunting, she puts on a yellow rain jacket to keep her clothes from getting dirty. 
• Kagune: Having a bikaku kagune, Rei's "tail" originates at her tail bone and appears as a twisted coil that splits into two sharp ended blades. During combat, they are able to uncoil and become two separate tails, but her lack of control makes it so they can only mirror the other's movement rather than move independently.
